The House version of the Federal Marriage Amendment failed to pass yesterday! The bill would have added an amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between a man and a woman. The bill failed to poll a 2/3 majority, with 227 yeas and 186 nays.
On a sidenote, I'm ashamed to admit that Cramer voted yes for this piece of crap legislation. Sessions did too, when it was in the Senate. (It failed there, too.) You can look up their emails, addressed and telephone numbers online if you're interested.
Soon there's a bill coming up in the House to deny Federal courts the right to hear cases related to the Pledge of Allegiance. So first, they want in our bedrooms... now they want to deny American public the right to judicial branch checks and balances? I think not! Do call, write, email, something.
In happier news, from 1-4 pm tomorrow (Saturday) there is a swing dance workshop going on in the UC Exhibit Hall... free for all UAH students and dance club members... I forget what it costs for everyone else but it's under $10. The workshop is split into two sessions: beginning swing, then intermediate. COME COME COME you know you want to!
