*Wow thunderstorms!
*Senate votes not to invoke cloture on the FMA. This is pretty much equivalent to it being shot down. WOOT! Death to the constitution-bashing, freedom-hating, bible-beating governmental parties (*coughBUSHcough*) that would use the rights and freedoms of American citizens as a political agenda to gain votes in the closed-minded, religious South. *deep breath* God I hate living here sometimes. My own SENATOR was a cosponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment! I am so ashamed. This man is languishing on MY tax dollars so he can sit up in Congress and slander a group of perfectly normal, contributing people, many of whom happen to be my friends, co-workers, classmates.
I hate that dickhead with a passion. Can ya tell?
*Kerry wants to go see "Saved" tonight. Looks hilarious. Anyone up?
Moving away from political/religious notes, and on to musical notes!
I finally went and checked out the bass clarinet from Cil today. WOW! IT'S A BUFFET!!! Wooden! Perfectly clean, no mold growth, all shiny and beautiful. I bought reeds, too, and I played on it... it is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. It didn't come with a ligature, so until I buy one I'm using an R-38 (aka a rubber band).
But yeah. I was delighted when I opened the case! A fairly new, shiny African boxwood Buffet bass clarinet! D'ya know how much this thing is WORTH?? And the tone is just beautiful.
Now I just have to remember how to play it. =)
I got a whole C scale out of it, and an F scale in three octaves, so I remember how to play, and pretty fast too! My fingers never lost their muscle memory. So now I need to get my jaw back in (not lips... you don't play a moutpiece that big with your lips!) and find some music to audition for the Wind Ensemble with. I don't have any. (Birdie, dear clarinet buddy, d'ya have any suggestions? please pretty please?) =)
Hokay, I'm gonna go fold laundry and play with the bass some more. Love!
